web site, New River Arts & Crafts, where you can find artistic
works, quality crafts, and home grown agricultural products for
sale. The products offered here are constantly changing so come
back often to check to see what's new. Our purpose is to support,
preserve and celebrate authentic mountain culture through the handmade
products of the New River Valley area.
Alleghany Arts & Crafts is a cooperative store
whose members are artists and crafts people either from Alleghany
County or with ties to the county. Alleghany Arts & Crafts is
located at 36 N. Main St. (next to the Court House) in Sparta, N.
C. and is proud to sponsor this web site. The membership of Alleghany
Arts & Crafts and New River Arts & Crafts are not the same
although there are people who are members of both organizations.
Each organization has its own jury process and membership requirements.

Inside this web site, you'll meet the creators and
the growers - the producers - who craft and grow these wonderful
products from the Northwestern corner of North Carolina. It won't
take you long to learn that each product is unique and has a character
of its own; none of these items were mass produced by machinery
or factories - they were made by local craftsmen who have been blessed
with tremendous creative talent. Therefore, we proudly say... each
product offered for sale was either made by hand or grown or raised
in our neck of the woods.
So wander in our open doors and sit a spell, as
you browse through the wide variety of high quality, one-of-a-kind
products - who knows - you might make a friend or two!

Featured Artist
Chris Davis
Chris Elliott-Davis began creating art as a child. Her first box of crayons one Christmas began her fascination with color on paper. She began Studio Redwood, Inc. in 1975 in the Spring Valley area of Grayson County, VA, painting and selling only watercolors. Over the years she added all mediums-studying and perfecting her skills in fine art, painted furniture, faux finishes and murals. Her current paintings may include one, or a number of the various mediums and techniques she works with.
Chris is an artist, teacher, designer, wife, mother, grandmother and lover of life. She spends time with each client discussing their particular needs; taste in décor, life-style, expectations and answering questions. She is passionate about her work. In addition to the fine art, custom painted accessories and painted furniture that are available, she is willing to do commission work. Just contact Chris and she will be happy to help.
Studio Redwood Inc., gallery, studio and art school have been located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Northwestern, North Carolina, since 1975 Along our country roads unfold rolling hills, farmland, breathtaking river views and scenic views along the Blue Ridge Parkway. These superb scenes and local people are the subjects for many of Chris’s paintings. Helping preserve our rural heritage with paint and paper, is one of her greatest joys.
See Chris' work.
